FLUMONT LC Tablet is used to control the symptoms of allergies, such as sneezing, a runny or blocked nose, watery and itchy eyes, and skin rashes, as well as to help manage the airway inflammation seen in asthma. It combines levocetirizine, an antihistamine, with montelukast, a leukotriene receptor antagonist.
Levocetirizine blocks histamine, the chemical the body releases during an allergic reaction, easing sneezing, itching and a runny nose, while montelukast blocks leukotrienes, substances that cause airway inflammation and tightening, making the combination useful for allergic rhinitis with an asthma or wheeze component.
Take this tablet as prescribed, usually in the evening, as your doctor prescribes, and continue taking it regularly for as long as advised, even between flare-ups, since montelukast works best as a regular preventive treatment.
Tell your doctor if you have kidney disease, epilepsy, or any history of mood changes, as montelukast has rarely been linked with changes in mood or behaviour, including sleep disturbance. This medicine can cause drowsiness, so take care while driving, and avoid known allergens such as dust, pollen, pet hair and tobacco smoke where possible, and speak to your doctor before starting treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
