Allercet-M Tablet is used to manage allergic rhinitis, chronic idiopathic urticaria (hives), and to provide add-on control of asthma symptoms. It reduces inflammation in the nasal passages and airways while blocking histamine, easing allergy-related symptoms.
It combines levocetirizine, an antihistamine that relieves sneezing, itchy eyes and a runny nose, with montelukast, a leukotriene receptor antagonist that reduces airway and nasal inflammation. Take the tablet as directed, usually once in the evening. Food does not significantly affect its absorption.
Taking it consistently, even between symptomatic periods, gives better long-term control. Avoiding known allergy triggers such as dust and pollen can also help.
If you notice mood changes, sleep disturbances or unusual behaviour, inform your doctor promptly, as these have been associated with montelukast. Tell your doctor about any kidney or liver problems before starting. Because montelukast can cause serious mood or behaviour changes, it is generally reserved for allergic rhinitis when other treatments are ineffective or not tolerated; report any such changes promptly.
