Amlosafe TM 40 Tablet 10 is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults whose blood pressure is not well controlled on a single medicine. It is a combination medicine containing telmisartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), and amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker.
The two medicines relax and widen the blood vessels in different ways, giving stronger blood pressure control and reducing the long-term strain on the heart, kidneys and brain. Take it at the same time, with or without food, and continue even when you feel well.
Reducing salt, being active on most days, keeping a healthy weight, limiting alcohol and not smoking help lower blood pressure alongside this medicine.
Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy, as it can harm an unborn baby. Before starting, tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease, heart failure, narrowing of a heart valve, high potassium or dehydration, and about other medicines you take, especially potassium supplements, water tablets or painkillers. Your doctor may check your kidney function and potassium. Contact your doctor if you feel faint, have marked ankle swelling or a fast heartbeat. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
