Amritarishta is prepared in the following method to yield maximum benefits:: Coarsely ground stems of Amrita or guduchi is combined with dashamoola and a decoction is made by adding water to the coarsely ground ingredients reducing the volume to one-fourth, which is then filtered into a clean vessel. Jaggery was added and mixed thoroughly, followed by fine powders known as prakshepa dravyas such as ajaji, raktapuspaka, saptaparni, trikatu, musta, nagakesara etc. This sweetened, filtered mixture was then allowed for fermentation for about one month by keeping it in a suitable environment, sealing the bottle. Finally, when fine particles had settled, it was filtered once more and poured into amber-coloured glass bottles.
Some main ingredients used in Amritarishta are as follows:
Amritarishta, a revered Ayurvedic tonic, offers numerous health benefits, including boosting immunity, enhancing digestion, promoting overall vitality, and aiding in preventing chronic diseases. Thus, it is a valuable addition to daily wellness routines.
The major use of Amritarishta is to enhance an individual's immune system. Herb Giloy, rich in antioxidants, helps fight infections and keep the system healthy. Such immunomodulatory effects are relevant in a world of environmental and pathogenic risks. It is advisable to take Amritarishta daily to strengthen the body’s immune system against most diseases and flu.
Amritarishta is useful for overcoming chronic and relapse fever. It is an antidysenteric, antidiarrheal, and antipyretic formula to ease infection.. It promotes antipyretic activity through the herb guduchi/Amrita and decreases fever, while dashamoola helps with other symptoms of fever, like body pain. This multiple-pronged strategy of treating fever places Amritarishta in a better position than other conventional treatments that may not succeed.
The Ayurvedic tonic acts in this way because it enhances digestion. This is so because it enhances the production of digestive enzymes. This is fabulous for a person with bad digestion due to indigestion, gas, and undesirable appetite following some illness. Amritarishta can thus assist with the secretion of digestive enzymes and the functioning of gastrointestinal tracts to assist with typical digestive complaints and better digestion.
Amritarishta helps detoxify and purify the blood to flush out toxins from the body. Therefore, it can be used to manage several skin diseases and improve the health status of the liver. This detoxification process is considered useful for the organism and can play a role in preventing different chronic diseases connected with toxins.
Amritarishta is an anti-inflammatory medicine that also kills the body's inflammation agents. This is necessary for those with joint pains, arthralgia, or other inflammatory ailments. It is also suggested that the presence of bioactive compounds in Amritarishta is effective in reducing inflammation in the human body.
The tonic is said to aid the liver through detoxification and shielding of the organ. Ayurvedic medicine employs it to treat liver diseases and attain better liver health. The hepatoprotective properties of Amritarishta can be considered highly useful in the modern world, where people’s livers are under a lot of stress for various reasons, such as poor diet, alcohol consumption, and exposure to multiple toxins.
Drinking Amritarishta as a remedy for some diseases effectively regains energy and strength. It is a tonic that makes one get well faster and boosts general stamina. This rejuvenating impact is very helpful to people recovering from a long-time illness and those who feel weak and tired.
In Ayurvedic philosophy, health is maintained by balancing three doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Like most Ayurvedic preparations, Amritarishta is thought to control all three doshas effectively. Maintaining health in an integrated manner is one of the important principles of Ayurveda and, therefore, forms a part of Amritarishta.
Amritarishta has been traditionally used to support respiratory health. It also has expectorant action, which will be useful in conditions such as bronchitis and asthma because it can help remove mucus from the respiratory tract. Also, due to its anti-inflammatory properties, it can be used to reduce inflammation of the respiratory tract.
Some herbs used in preparing Amritarishta, especially Giloy (Tinospora cordifolia), have been shown to positively affect cognitive activity. Food consumption may aid in improving memory, concentration, and general brain function. The cognitive-boosting property of this medicine makes Amritarishta, which may be instrumental in protecting the brain as we age.
Amritarishta may be helpful for cardiovascular health because of the antioxidant characteristics of this remedy. It could also be useful in regulating blood pressure and overall heart health because it has been found to lessen oxidative stress and inflammation. However, further research is required to understand the impact of the said ingredient on cardiovascular health.
Thus, although Amritarishta comes with many possible health benefits, it is advised to take it under the supervision of an Ayurvedic physician. As with other herbal products, it can be expected to have cross-drug interactions or may not be safe for particular diseases. It is always wise to seek a doctor's opinion before using any new product such as Amritarishta or any other supplement.
