Boostrix Injection is used as a booster vaccine to maintain immunity in adolescents and adults.

Boostrix Injection is used for booster vaccination against the following diseases:

• Diphtheria: Helps strengthen protection against diphtheria, a bacterial infection that can affect the throat and other parts of the body.
• Tetanus: Helps protect against tetanus, a serious illness that can cause muscle stiffness and painful spasms.
• Pertussis: Helps protect against pertussis, also known as whooping cough, a contagious respiratory infection.

Vaccination during pregnancy, when recommended, can help protect a newborn against pertussis through antibodies transferred from the mother.

• Boostrix Injection must be administered by a healthcare professional.
• The vaccine is given by intramuscular injection, usually into the deltoid muscle of the upper arm.
• The timing of vaccination should follow the recommended schedule and your vaccination history.
• If you have missed a recommended vaccination, contact your healthcare professional to determine the appropriate schedule.
• Do not attempt to administer the vaccine yourself.

Boostrix Injection is administered by intramuscular injection by a healthcare professional, usually into the upper arm muscle.

Boostrix Injection contains diphtheria toxoid (2.5 Lf), tetanus toxoid (5 Lf) and three acellular pertussis antigens: pertussis toxoid (8 µg), filamentous haemagglutinin (8 µg) and pertactin (2.5 µg).

These antigens stimulate the immune system to develop an immune response against the bacteria that cause diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis. This helps the body recognise these pathogens and defend itself if exposed to them in the future.

Boostrix Injection is a preventive vaccine. It does not treat an active infection.

• Store Boostrix Injection in a refrigerator between 2°C and 8°C to maintain its effectiveness.
• Protect the medicine from light and moisture by keeping it in its original packaging.
• Keep Boostrix Injection out of reach and sight of children.
• Use the product before its expiry date mentioned on the packaging.

• Maintain a balanced diet and adequate hydration to support general health.
• Follow the vaccination schedule recommended by your healthcare professional.
• Keep your vaccination record up to date.
• Follow general infection-prevention practices, such as regular handwashing and covering your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.

These measures support general health but do not replace vaccination.
