Tetan 40 Tablet is used to manage high blood pressure (hypertension) and to lower the risk of heart attack, stroke, and kidney problems in adults at high cardiovascular risk. It also helps protect kidney function in people with diabetes.
It contains telmisartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker. It can be prescribed alone or alongside other blood pressure medicines, and can be taken with or without food, but take it as prescribed. Continue taking it regularly even if you feel well, and stopping suddenly may cause your blood pressure to rise again.
Healthy lifestyle changes form an important part of managing high blood pressure. These include reducing salt in your diet, staying physically active, maintaining a healthy weight, and limiting alcohol.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor about any kidney or liver problems, low blood pressure, or other medicines you take. It is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Your doctor may check your kidney function and potassium levels while you are taking this medicine.
