Newtel-40 Tablet is used to control high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults. This medication contains Telmisartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that works by relaxing blood vessels to improve blood flow. It helps reduce the risk of heart attacks, strokes, and cardiovascular death in high-risk patients, including those with diabetes or established heart conditions, and aids in blood pressure control for those showing signs of organ damage.

Newtel-40 Tablet consists of telmisartan (40 mg), which works as follows:

• Angiotensin II Receptor Blockage: Telmisartan selectively binds to the angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptor found in various tissues like vascular smooth muscle and the adrenal gland. This inhibits the actions of angiotensin II, a hormone that causes blood vessels to constrict.
• Blood Pressure Reduction: By blocking angiotensin II's action, telmisartan relaxes blood vessels and decreases blood pressure levels.
• Aldosterone Secretion Reduction: Apart from causing vasoconstriction, angiotensin II also stimulates the secretion of aldosterone, a hormone that can increase blood pressure. Telmisartan helps reduce aldosterone secretion, contributing to its blood pressure-lowering effects
