Atenolol (25 Mg) + Chlorthalidone (12.5 Mg)

Tenoric-25 Tablet is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It combines a beta-blocker and a diuretic to relax blood vessels, reduce fluid retention, and lower blood pressure, thereby reducing the risk of heart attacks and strokes.

Tenoric-25 Tablet is used for the following:

Lowering high blood pressure: This medicine helps control hypertension, reducing the risk of strokes and heart attacks.
Managing chest pain: It effectively controls angina pectoris, a condition caused by coronary artery disease.
Enhancing survival post-heart attack: This medicine can improve survival rates in patients who have stabilised after a heart attack.

Follow these instructions while taking Tenoric-25 Tablet:

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew it.
Aim to take your medicine at the same time each day to keep a steady level of it in your blood.
It's important not to stop taking this medicine without speaking to your doctor first. Suddenly, stopping could worsen certain conditions or even trigger a heart attack.

Tenoric-25 Tablet is taken orally.

While using Tenoric-25 Tablet, you may experience the following side effects:

Dizziness: This might make you feel as if you're about to lose your balance.
Fatigue or tiredness
Slow heartbeat: This could mean your heart rate is slower than usual.
Cold hands and feet
Upset stomach: You might feel discomfort or pain in your upper abdomen.
Electrolyte imbalance: This could mean levels of minerals like potassium or sodium in your body are lower than normal.

Tenoric-25 Tablet combines two active ingredients:

Atenolol (25 mg): This ingredient works as a beta-1 selective adrenergic receptor-blocking agent. It targets the receptors in your heart, reducing its workload by decreasing cardiac output, heart rate and blood pressure. As it selectively blocks beta-1 receptors, it does not significantly affect airway resistance and maintains the bronchodilation effect.
Chlorthalidone (12.5 mg): A thiazide-like diuretic, chlorthalidone increases urine production and promotes salt and water excretion from the body. Additionally, it relaxes and widens blood vessels to facilitate easier blood flow. The exact mechanism isn't fully understood but is likely related to inhibiting sodium and chloride reabsorption in the kidneys' distal convoluted tubules.

Pregnancy

Tenoric-25 Tablet isn't recommended during pregnancy unless absolutely necessary. If you are pregnant or planning to conceive, make sure to discuss this with your doctor before starting this medicine.

Breastfeeding

This medicine is not recommended for breastfeeding women as both atenolol and chlorthalidone are excreted in breast milk and can affect the nursing baby. Consult your doctor to understand the potential risks and benefits.

Alcohol
