Rixmin-400 Tablet is used to manage hepatic encephalopathy, a condition associated with advanced liver disease. It contains rifaximin, an antibiotic that works by reducing ammonia-producing bacteria in the intestines, helping lower blood ammonia levels.
Rifaximin acts mainly within the gut, reducing the number of bacteria that produce ammonia and other harmful substances, which helps lower blood ammonia levels and can ease the confusion and other symptoms associated with hepatic encephalopathy.
Take this tablet as your doctor prescribes, with or without food, and continue taking it regularly for as long as advised, since it is often used for ongoing prevention of hepatic encephalopathy episodes.
Tell your doctor if you have severe liver disease or a bowel blockage before starting this medicine. Report any worsening confusion, drowsiness, or yellowing of the skin or eyes to your doctor promptly.
