CompositionSibofix 400 Tablet is a targeted intestinal antibiotic used to manage non-invasive traveller's diarrhoea caused by E. coli, irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhoea (IBS-D), and to prevent the recurrence of hepatic encephalopathy in patients with liver disease.
It contains rifaximin, an antibiotic that acts locally in the gastrointestinal tract with minimal absorption into the bloodstream. In liver disease, it reduces ammonia-producing gut bacteria to help prevent brain function deterioration (confusion and lethargy). Take the tablet whole with water as prescribed, with or without food.
Drinking plenty of clean fluids, oral rehydration solutions, and eating light, easily digestible foods help maintain hydration and bowel comfort during treatment.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have severe liver impairment, high fever, or bloody diarrhoea. Complete the full prescribed course even if symptoms improve early. Contact your doctor if diarrhoea worsens or severe abdominal pain develops.
