Rexigut 200 Tablet is an antibiotic used to treat gut-specific bacterial infections, including traveller's diarrhoea caused by E. coli, hepatic encephalopathy in severe liver disease, and irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhoea (IBS-D). It acts locally within the intestines to reduce harmful gut bacteria.
It contains rifaximin. Because very little of the medicine enters the bloodstream, it delivers targeted action in the gastrointestinal tract with minimal systemic side effects. Take it as prescribed, with or without food, for the complete course directed by your doctor.
Supporting digestive recovery includes drinking adequate electrolyte fluids to replace lost water, eating light and easily digestible foods, and avoiding greasy or heavily spiced dishes while your gut heals.
Tell your doctor if you have severe liver impairment, high fever, or blood in your stools before starting this medicine. Consult your doctor immediately if diarrhoea worsens or does not improve after 3 days of treatment.
