Febutax-40 Tablet is a medicine used to manage long-term high uric acid levels in adults with gout. It helps prevent painful gout attacks by keeping uric acid levels low and stopping the formation of uric acid crystals in the joints, which protects the joints from long-term damage.
Febutax-40 Tablet contains febuxostat, a xanthine oxidase inhibitor. It is usually taken with or without food, at the same time each day. It is generally taken long term, even when you have no gout symptoms. Drink plenty of water during treatment to help flush uric acid from the body.
Certain lifestyle and dietary changes can also help reduce uric acid levels. These include limiting foods high in purines (such as red meat, organ meats, and shellfish), reducing alcohol intake (especially beer), maintaining a healthy weight, and staying well hydrated.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have any heart, kidney, or liver problems, a history of allergic reactions, or are taking other medicines. Inform your doctor if you develop a skin rash, chest pain, or yellowing of the skin or eyes, as these can occasionally indicate serious reactions. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before use.
