Novastat-TG 20 Tablet is used to manage mixed dyslipidaemia in adults, lowering harmful LDL cholesterol and triglycerides while may increase HDL cholesterol to help reduce cardiovascular risk.

Novastat-TG 20 Tablet is composed of two active ingredients:

• Fenofibrate (160 mg): Fenofibrate is an activator of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor α (PPAR-α), which plays a key role in lipid metabolism. It enhances the breakdown of triglyceride-rich particles and promotes the synthesis of HDL cholesterol (HDL-C). Additionally, fenofibrate lowers total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol (LDL-C) levels by facilitating the removal of LDL particles from the bloodstream. It also decreases the production of apo C-III, a protein that inhibits triglyceride breakdown.

• Rosuvastatin (20 mg): Rosuvastatin is a statin, specifically an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor, that works by blocking the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase, which is crucial for cholesterol synthesis in the liver. This action increases the number of LDL receptors on liver cells, enhancing the uptake and clearance of LDL from the blood. Rosuvastatin also has a modest effect on reducing triglycerides and raising HDL cholesterol (HDL-C) levels.
