Planep 25 Tablet is a medicine used to manage high blood pressure and heart failure, particularly after a heart attack. It helps lower blood pressure, reduce fluid overload, and improve heart efficiency, reducing the risk of heart-related hospitalisation.
It contains eplerenone, a selective aldosterone receptor antagonist. It works by blocking aldosterone, helping the kidneys eliminate excess water and sodium while retaining potassium, which eases the strain on the heart and blood vessels. Take it as prescribed, with or without food.
Managing blood pressure and heart failure requires long-term lifestyle support. Maintain a diet low in salt, engage in light physical activity as advised by your doctor, avoid smoking, and limit alcohol consumption.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have high potassium levels (hyperkalaemia), severe kidney disease, or liver impairment, or if you are taking potassium supplements or sparers. Your doctor will perform periodic blood tests to check your kidney function and potassium levels.
