Isolazine 20/37.5 Tablet is used to manage heart failure in adults, particularly as an alternative or add-on when ACE inhibitors or ARBs are not suitable, helping to reduce symptoms such as breathlessness, fatigue and leg swelling.
It combines hydralazine (37.5 mg), which relaxes the arteries, and isosorbide dinitrate (20 mg), a nitrate that relaxes the veins and improves blood flow to the heart. A nitrate-free interval is usually observed to prevent tolerance.
A heart-healthy diet, quitting smoking and keeping to all monitoring appointments support your treatment alongside this medicine.
Tell your doctor about any very low blood pressure, severe kidney disease, systemic lupus erythematosus or raised pressure in the skull before starting. This medicine must not be taken with erectile dysfunction medicines (phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors). Report joint pains or a skin rash, as hydralazine can rarely cause a lupus-like reaction. Report a marked headache or flushing.
