NICOMNOL 4 TABLET 10 is used for the following:

• Prevention of harmful blood clots

• Treatment of deep vein thrombosis

• Management of pulmonary embolism

• Prevention of stroke in atrial fibrillation

• Reducing risk of repetitive heart attacks

• Management of coronary occlusion

• Prevention of clot formation in heart conditions

• Reducing risk of systemic embolism

Follow these instructions while taking NICOMNOL 4 TABLET 10:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Take this medicine at the same time each day for a consistent effect.

• Avoid crushing or chewing the tablet.

• Do not stop taking this medicine without consulting your doctor.

NICOMNOL 4 TABLET 10 is taken orally.

NICOMNOL 4 TABLET 10 contains nicoumalone (4 mg), which works on the body as follows:

• Vitamin K Antagonism: Nicoumalone acts by blocking the action of vitamin K, which is essential for blood clotting. This prevents your body from using vitamin K to make certain clotting factors.

• Clotting Factor Inhibition: It specifically inhibits the synthesis of vitamin K-dependent clotting factors II, VII, IX and X in the liver. This leads to decreased blood clotting ability in your body.

• Anticoagulant Effect: By reducing the formation of these clotting factors, nicoumalone effectively decreases your blood's ability to form clots, thereby helping prevent harmful clot formation in blood vessels.

• Preventive Action: While it prevents new clots from developing and stops existing clots from growing larger, it does not dissolve clots that have already formed.

• Store NICOMNOL 4 TABLET 10 in a cool, dry place at room temperature (30°C).

• Keep away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture.

• Limit intake of foods high in vitamin K (like kale, spinach and broccoli), as they can reduce the effectiveness of NICOMNOL 4 TABLET 10 and affect your blood clotting levels.

• Consider eating whole grains, fruits, non-leafy vegetables, lean proteins, and low-fat dairy. This helps reduce stroke and clot risk, especially in atrial fibrillation or valve disease.
