CompositionVogliboz 0.3 Tablet is used to control blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes, mainly the rise in blood sugar after meals, together with diet and exercise. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing voglibose 0.3mg, which belongs to a class of medicines called alpha-glucosidase inhibitors.
This medicine slows the digestion of starches and sugars in the gut, so blood sugar rises more gently after eating. It can be used alone or with other diabetes medicines. Take it just before each main meal, as prescribed; it only works when taken with food.
A controlled-carbohydrate diet, regular physical activity, keeping a healthy weight and checking your blood sugar as advised are essential. Gas and bloating often ease over time and if you limit sugary foods.
On its own this medicine rarely causes low blood sugar, but it can when taken with a sulfonylurea or insulin; treat low blood sugar with glucose (dextrose) tablets or gel, not table sugar, because this medicine slows how quickly ordinary sugar is absorbed. Before starting, tell your doctor if you have a bowel condition such as inflammatory bowel disease or a blockage, a large hernia, history of stomach surgery, or liver or kidney disease, and about other medicines you take. Do not take it if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Seek medical help for severe bloating or stomach pain, or yellowing of the skin or eyes. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
