Nepalact Eye Drops are used to manage pain and inflammation following cataract surgery. They are specifically effective at reducing the "gritty" sensation and redness that occur post-operatively. For diabetic patients, these drops play a crucial role in preventing "macular edema", a swelling in the back of the eye that can blur vision after surgery.
These drops contain Nepafenac, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It is a ""prodrug,"" meaning it is absorbed through the cornea and then converted into its active form inside the eye tissues. This targeted delivery allows it to inhibit prostaglandins (chemicals that cause pain and swelling) exactly where they are needed most, promoting faster and more comfortable healing.
Shake the bottle well before use. Instill one drop into the affected eye(s) three times daily, starting one day before surgery and continuing for as long as your surgeon advises. Do not touch the dropper tip to your eye or any surface to prevent infection. If you use other eye drops, wait at least 5 minutes between applications.
