Montina L Tablet is used to manage allergic rhinitis, including seasonal and year-round allergies that cause sneezing, a runny or blocked nose, and itchy or watery eyes. It is a combination medicine containing levocetirizine and montelukast. It belongs to the classes of medicines called antihistamines and leukotriene receptor antagonists.
This medicine helps relieve persistent nasal allergy symptoms, particularly when treatment with an antihistamine alone is insufficient. It may also be prescribed when allergic rhinitis occurs alongside asthma, but it does not replace prescribed asthma controller medicines or relieve sudden asthma attacks. Take the tablet with or without food, in the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor. For allergic rhinitis, montelukast-containing treatment is generally reserved for patients who have not responded adequately to or cannot tolerate alternative treatments.
Reducing exposure to allergy triggers such as dust mites, pollen, pet dander and mould may help control symptoms. Keeping indoor spaces clean and avoiding known allergens can complement the prescribed treatment.
Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you have kidney or liver problems, a history of mental health conditions or any allergies. Tell your doctor about other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take, and if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Montelukast may cause serious mood, behaviour or sleep changes. If these occur, stop taking the medicine and contact your doctor immediately. Report other persistent or serious side effects and do not change or discontinue treatment without medical advice.
