Linaxa M 2.5/500 Tablet contains two active ingredients:

• Linagliptin (2.5 mg): As a Dipeptidyl Peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor, this medicine works by slowing down the inactivation of certain hormones in your body called incretins. This action results in a prolonged effect of these hormones, stimulating the release of insulin when your blood sugar levels are high and decreasing the release of glucagon. This glucose-dependent mechanism helps reduce both fasting and postprandial (after meals) glucose levels.

• Metformin (500 mg): This ingredient is classified as a biguanide antihyperglycemic agent. Metformin primarily reduces blood glucose levels by suppressing glucose production in the liver. It enhances the sensitivity of your body to insulin which increases peripheral glucose uptake and reduces the absorption of glucose in your intestines. Unlike some other diabetes medications, metformin does not cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) in patients or healthy subjects.
