Hqtor Tablet 10

Hqtor Tablet 10 is used for the prophylaxis and management of uncomplicated malaria caused by P. falciparum, P. vivax, P. ovale, and P. malariae. It is also used to manage rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in adults. Additionally, it has off-label uses for managing discoid lupus erythematosus (DLE) and porphyria cutanea tarda.

Follow these instructions while taking Hqtor Tablet 10:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
• Do not crush or chew the tablet.
• Always take this medicine with food or milk to minimise discomfort in your stomach.
• Do not take more than the recommended dose without consulting your doctor.
• Consult your doctor before discontinuing this medicine.

Hqtor Tablet 10 is taken orally.

Hqtor Tablet 10 works in the body via hydroxychloroquine sulphate (200 mg). The mechanisms of action are as follows:

• Interfering with Antigen Processing: Hydroxychloroquine interferes with how antigens (substances that trigger an immune response) are processed in certain immune cells called macrophages. This modulation of the immune response can lead to a decrease in inflammation.
• Disturbing Parasite Metabolism: In malaria cases, hydroxychloroquine hampers the ability of the malaria parasites to digest haemoglobin (the molecule in red blood cells that carries oxygen) and synthesize their DNA and RNA. This disruption prevents the parasites from multiplying and causing further harm.

These two actions combined enable Hqtor Tablet 10 to manage malaria and rheumatoid conditions.

• Store Hqtor Tablet 10 at room temperature.
• Keep it in a closed container to protect it from moisture and light.
• Always keep this medicine out of children's reach.
• Ensure that you use the tablet before its expiry date.
