HaloVate-S Ointment is used to treat inflammatory skin conditions that respond to corticosteroids. It is effective in managing plaque psoriasis, which causes red, scaly patches on the skin, and atopic dermatitis (eczema), which leads to itching and redness. The ointment also helps relieve symptoms of contact dermatitis caused by irritants or allergens, along with other steroid-responsive skin conditions.
Before you apply HaloVate-S Ointment, please keep the following instructions in mind:
Firstly, cleanse and dry the affected skin area.
Apply the ointment to the necessary areas, ensuring it spreads evenly.
Gently massage until fully absorbed into your skin.
After application, wash your hands thoroughly unless they require treatment themselves.

HaloVate-S Ointment is applied topically.
HaloVate-S Ointment can sometimes cause burning, stinging, itching, redness, dryness, acne, or mild folliculitis at the application site. Skin discolouration may also occur. Seek medical advice if irritation becomes severe or continues for long.
Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless, which resolve upon discontinuing the use of HaloVate-S Ointment. However, if you experience any serious side effects or worsening of any symptoms, please consult your doctor.
Here are some general guidelines for managing common side effects:
Burning, stinging or itching at the application site: You might find it helpful to apply HaloVate-S Ointment before bedtime to reduce daytime discomfort.
Skin dryness or redness: Moisturize your skin regularly. Apply the ointment after moisturising for better absorption.
HaloVate-S Ointment comprises two active ingredients:
Halobetasol propionate (0.05%): This potent corticosteroid works by interacting with specific DNA sequences to modify gene transcription. The result is a reduction in pro-inflammatory cytokines and mediators, reducing inflammation, itching, and redness in the affected skin.
Salicylic acid (3%): This keratolytic agent softens and dissolves the intercellular cement holding the outer layer of skin cells together. Doing so promotes the shedding of scales and reduces the thickness of psoriatic plaques, thereby enhancing the penetration and effectiveness of clobetasol propionate.
Caution is advised when using HaloVate-S Ointment during pregnancy. Consult your doctor before applying this medicine.
HaloVate-S Ointment should be used while breastfeeding with caution. Always discuss with your doctor before applying this medicine if you are nursing a baby.
As HaloVate-S Ointment is applied topically, interaction with alcohol doesn't generally apply. However, it's still a good idea to discuss any regular alcohol use with your doctor.
For people with liver health issues, the use of HaloVate-S Ointment is rarely a concern as it is a topical preparation. Nevertheless, if you have liver-related health issues, it's advisable to discuss them with your doctor.
Similar to liver health, kidney health concerns are usually not relevant for topical medicines like HaloVate-S Ointment. If you have kidney problems, though, make sure to mention them to your doctor.

Skin Infections: If you have any skin infections, fungal, viral or bacterial, applying HaloVate-S Ointment might not be advisable unless you have appropriate antimicrobial coverage.
Your doctor determines the daily dosage of HaloVate-S Ointment, considering factors such as the severity of your condition and your response to the medicine. Adhere to the prescribed dosage and do not modify it without consulting your doctor.
If you accidentally apply more HaloVate-S Ointment than recommended, you might experience increased skin dryness, irritation, or redness. If these symptoms persist or worsen, inform your doctor.
In case you forget to apply HaloVate-S Ointment at the scheduled time, do so as soon as you remember. However, if it's nearly time for the next application, simply skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Never double up on doses without seeking advice from your doctor.
