Halonom S Ointment 10Gm

Halonom S Ointment is used to manage thick, scaly patches of inflamed skin that respond to steroid medicines.

Uses of Halonom S Ointment are:

• Plaque psoriasis: This medicine helps reduce the red, raised, scaly patches (called plaques) that appear on the body and limbs in this long-term skin condition.

• Thick, scaly skin inflammation: It manages other skin conditions where the skin becomes thickened, scaly and inflamed, and where steroid medicines are known to work.

Apply Halonom S Ointment as suggested below:

• Before application, ensure that the affected skin area is clean and dry.

• Wash the area with soap and water, then pat it dry with a clean towel.

• Apply the ointment to the affected area using your fingertip or a clean cotton swab.

• Gently massage the product into the skin, covering the affected area with a very thin layer of ointment.

• Wash your hands after applying the ointment to prevent the spread of infection.

• Consult your doctor for specific advice on how to use this medicine.

Halonom S Ointment is applied topically.

Halonom S Ointment contains two active ingredients that work together on thick, scaly, inflamed skin:

• Halobetasol propionate (0.05%): This super-high-potency corticosteroid (a powerful anti-inflammatory medicine) enters skin cells and binds to special receptor proteins inside them. The drug-receptor complex then moves into the cell nucleus (the control centre of the cell) and changes how certain proteins are made. This process triggers the production of substances called lipocortins, which block an enzyme named phospholipase A2. Blocking this enzyme reduces the formation of inflammatory chemicals such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes (substances that cause redness, swelling and pain). The result is reduced inflammation, itching, redness and swelling in the affected skin.

• Salicylic acid (3%): This keratolytic agent works by softening and loosening the thickened outer layer of skin, called the stratum corneum. It dissolves the cement-like substance that holds dead skin cells together, causing them to shed without damaging the healthy skin beneath. By removing excess keratin (the protein that makes up the outer skin layer) and reducing scale, salicylic acid smooths rough patches and improves the ability of the corticosteroid to penetrate into the affected area.

• Store the tube at room temperature.

• Keep the container tightly closed to protect the ointment from moisture and air.

• Do not freeze the product or expose it to direct sunlight or excessive heat.

• Keep out of the sight and reach of children.

• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack.

• Include a balanced diet with adequate protein, fruits and vegetables: This supports general skin health while your skin condition is being treated.

• Avoid scratching or rubbing the affected skin: Keep your nails short and gently pat the area if it feels itchy to reduce further irritation.
