Glimiprex Mf 3/500 Tablet 10

Glimiprex Mf 3/500 Tablet 10 is used to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is an adjunct to diet and exercise for better blood sugar management and can be used as a combination therapy when individual glimepiride and metformin tablets are insufficient to provide adequate control.

• Swallow the tablet whole with your evening meal.

• Avoid crushing, chewing, or splitting the tablet.

• Do not take more than the recommended dose without consulting your doctor.

• Do not stop taking this medicine without consulting your doctor.

Glimiprex Mf 3/500 Tablet 10 is taken orally.

Glimiprex Mf 3/500 Tablet 10 consists of two active ingredients:

• Glimepiride (3 mg): As part of the sulphonylurea class of medications, glimepiride helps regulate blood sugar by stimulating pancreatic beta cells to release more insulin. This increased insulin secretion occurs even at lower blood sugar levels due to an improved sensitivity of these cells towards glucose. Glimepiride helps reduce glucose output from your liver.

• Metformin (500 mg): Metformin primarily works by reducing hepatic glucose production and intestinal glucose absorption, while enhancing insulin sensitivity in tissues like muscle and fat. It activates an enzyme named AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK), which regulates cellular energy balance and glucose uptake. Unlike sulphonylurea, metformin does not stimulate insulin secretion and is less likely to cause hypoglycaemia.

Through these different mechanisms, it effectively helps manage blood glucose levels in adults with type 2 diabetes.

• Maintain a balanced diet low in sugars and high in fibre, to help manage blood sugar levels when taking Glimiprex Mf 3/500 Tablet 10.

• Regular exercise is beneficial for managing type 2 diabetes. Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity everyday. This can include brisk walking, cycling, or even gardening.
