Obimet Gx 3 Tablet 10

Obimet GX 3 Tablet 10 is used to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes, alongside diet and exercise, when single glimepiride and metformin tablets are not enough.

Uses of Obimet GX 3 Tablet 10 are:

• Type 2 Diabetes: Improves blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes.
• Add-on Therapy: Used when diet, exercise or a single medicine do not give enough control.
• Combined Tablet: Combines glimepiride and metformin in one tablet.

• Swallow the tablet whole with your evening meal.

• Avoid crushing, chewing, or splitting the tablet.

• Do not take more than the recommended dose without consulting your doctor.

• Do not stop taking this medicine without consulting your doctor.

Obimet Gx 3 Tablet 10 is taken orally.

Obimet Gx 3 Tablet 10 consists of two active ingredients:

• Glimepiride (3 mg): As part of the sulphonylurea class of medications, glimepiride helps regulate blood sugar by stimulating pancreatic beta cells to release more insulin. This increased insulin secretion occurs even at lower blood sugar levels due to an improved sensitivity of these cells towards glucose. Glimepiride helps reduce glucose output from your liver.

• Metformin (500 mg): Metformin primarily works by reducing hepatic glucose production and intestinal glucose absorption, while enhancing insulin sensitivity in tissues like muscle and fat. It activates an enzyme named AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK), which regulates cellular energy balance and glucose uptake. Unlike sulphonylurea, metformin does not stimulate insulin secretion and is less likely to cause hypoglycaemia.

Through these different mechanisms, it effectively helps manage blood glucose levels in adults with type 2 diabetes.

• Store Obimet Gx 3 Tablet 10 at room temperature, ideally between 20°C and 25°C.

• Keep protected from light and moisture.

• Keep out of reach and sight of children.

• Use before the expiry date marked on the pack.

• Maintain a balanced diet low in sugars and high in fibre, to help manage blood sugar levels when taking Obimet Gx 3 Tablet 10.

• Regular exercise is beneficial for managing type 2 diabetes. Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity everyday. This can include brisk walking, cycling, or even gardening.
