CompositionEuthyrox 50 Tablet is used to treat an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism), restoring normal hormone levels and improving energy and metabolism. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing levothyroxine, and belongs to a class of medicines called thyroid hormones.
This medicine is also used to help manage thyroid enlargement (goitre) and certain other thyroid conditions. Take it on an empty stomach, ideally 30 to 60 minutes before breakfast, at the same time each day, with water. Use the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor.
Taking this medicine at the same time each day, and keeping a gap between it and coffee, calcium or iron supplements as your doctor advises, helps your body absorb it well.
Tell your doctor about any heart problems before starting this medicine, and about any other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. Speak to your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding, as your dose may need to be adjusted. Too high a dose can cause signs of an overactive thyroid, such as a fast heartbeat, weight loss, sweating and feeling too hot, so report these and attend the blood tests that check your dose. Report any side effects that persist or become serious. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
