Thyzire 50 Tablet 120 is used to manage hypothyroidism, a condition where the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormone.

Uses of Thyzire 50 Tablet 120 are:

• Hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid): This medicine replaces the missing thyroid hormone in your body, helping to restore normal metabolism and relieve symptoms such as tiredness, weight gain, cold intolerance and low mood.
• Goitre: It helps reduce the size of an enlarged thyroid gland (goitre) and prevents it from growing back after surgery by lowering thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) levels.
• Thyroid cancer: In addition to surgery and radioactive iodine therapy, this medicine suppresses TSH in certain types of well-differentiated thyroid cancers that depend on TSH for growth.
• Diagnostic thyroid tests: It is used in specialised thyroid suppression tests to assess thyroid function.

Follow these instructions while taking Thyzire 50 Tablet 120:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water.
• Take it on an empty stomach, ideally 30 to 60 minutes before breakfast.
• Avoid taking it with tea, coffee, milk or calcium-rich foods, as these can reduce absorption.
• Take the medicine at the same time each day for best results.
• Do not crush or chew the tablet.

Thyzire 50 Tablet 120 contains thyroxine (50 mcg), which works on the body as follows:

• Replaces thyroid hormone: Thyroxine is a synthetic version of the natural thyroid hormone T4 (tetraiodothyronine), which your thyroid gland normally produces. It replaces the hormone your body is missing.
• Converts to active hormone: After absorption, much of the T4 is converted in tissues such as the liver and kidneys into T3 (triiodothyronine), the more biologically active thyroid hormone.
• Regulates gene activity: T4 and T3 enter cells and bind to thyroid hormone receptors in the nucleus (the control centre of the cell). This binding regulates the transcription (copying) of specific genes, changing the production of proteins and enzymes.
• Increases metabolic rate: By influencing gene activity, thyroid hormone increases your basal metabolic rate (the energy your body uses at rest), boosts oxygen consumption, and affects how your body uses proteins, carbohydrates and fats.
