Duonem ER 300 Tablet is used to treat bacterial infections of the airways and lungs, urinary tract, skin and female reproductive organs. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing faropenem in an extended-release form, and belongs to a class of antibiotics called penems.
The extended-release tablet releases the medicine slowly, which may reduce the number of doses needed each day. Swallow it whole without crushing or chewing, in the dose and for the full course prescribed by your doctor, even if you feel better early.
Getting plenty of rest and drinking enough fluids can support recovery. Taking antibiotics only when prescribed helps reduce antibiotic resistance.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you are allergic to penicillin, cephalosporins or any other antibiotic, or if you have kidney disease or a history of colitis, and about other medicines you take. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Contact your doctor if you develop severe or watery diarrhoea, a widespread rash, or swelling of the face or throat. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
