Cetil-CV 500 Tablet is an antibiotic used to treat susceptible bacterial infections affecting the respiratory tract, throat, ears, sinuses, urinary tract, and skin and soft tissues. It should only be used for bacterial infections when prescribed by a doctor.
It contains cefuroxime and clavulanic acid. Cefuroxime kills susceptible bacteria by preventing the formation of their protective cell wall, while clavulanic acid blocks beta-lactamase enzymes that can make certain bacteria resistant to cefuroxime.
Take this tablet with food, exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Complete the full course even if you begin to feel better, as stopping treatment early may cause the infection to return and contribute to antibiotic resistance.
Tell your doctor if you have an allergy to cefuroxime, cephalosporins, penicillins or other antibiotics, or if you have kidney or liver problems. Seek medical attention if you develop breathing difficulty, facial swelling, a severe skin reaction, or persistent or bloody diarrhoea.
