Ascovent-SR Tablet is used to manage long-term breathing conditions such as asthma, chronic bronchitis, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It belongs to a class of medicines called xanthine derivatives, which work as bronchodilators to relax the muscles of the airways and make breathing easier.
It is a sustained-release tablet and should be swallowed whole with a glass of water; do not crush or chew it, as this can release the medicine too quickly. It can be taken with or without food as prescribed. Continue taking it regularly even when your breathing feels better, as it helps prevent flare-ups over time.
Avoid smoking and exposure to dust, smoke, and other airway irritants, as these can worsen your symptoms. Staying well hydrated helps loosen mucus, and any breathing exercises recommended by your doctor can further support lung function.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have a history of seizures, stomach ulcers, or heart problems, or if you take other medicines, including those containing caffeine. Tell your doctor if you notice a fast or irregular heartbeat, as your dose may need to be adjusted.
