Valtan 40 Tablet 10 is used for the following:

• Lowering high blood pressure in adults

• Managing high blood pressure in children from age 6

• Reducing the risk of hospitalisation in heart failure

• Improving survival after heart attack

• Decreasing cardiovascular mortality risk

• Helping patients with clinically stable heart conditions

• Supporting heart function in people with heart failure

• Controlling blood pressure in vascular smooth muscle

• Preventing blood vessel narrowing

• Lowering the heart's workload in cardiovascular conditions

Follow these instructions while taking Valtan 40 Tablet 10:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water.

• Take this medicine as directed by your doctor, with or without food.

• Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet.

• Take Valtan 40 Tablet 10 regularly, even if you feel well.

• Continue taking this medicine until your doctor advises otherwise.

• Consult your doctor if you have questions about using this medicine.

Valtan 40 Tablet 10 is taken orally.

Valtan 40 Tablet 10 contains Valsartan (40 mg), which works on the body as follows:

• Angiotensin II receptor blockade: Valsartan selectively blocks the binding of angiotensin II to AT1 receptors found in various tissues like vascular smooth muscle and adrenal glands.

• Vasodilation: By preventing angiotensin II from binding to its receptors, valsartan causes blood vessels to relax and widen (vasodilation), which helps lower blood pressure.

• Reduced cardiac workload: The widening of blood vessels decreases the resistance against which the heart must pump, reducing the workload on the heart and improving its function.

• Renal protection: Valsartan helps maintain kidney function by preventing the constriction of blood vessels in the kidneys, which can occur due to angiotensin II.

• Store Valtan 40 Tablet 10 at room temperature between 20°C to 25°C.

• Keep the container tightly closed to protect it from moisture.

• Store in a dry place away from direct sunlight.

• Keep all medicines, including Valtan 40 Tablet 10, out of reach of children and pets.

• Do not use this medicine after the expiry date printed on the package.

• Reduce sodium intake: Limit your salt consumption to help manage high blood pressure. Choose fresh foods over processed items and avoid adding extra salt to meals.

• Maintain a healthy weight: Being overweight increases strain on your heart. Regular physical activity (aim for 30 minutes daily) combined with a balanced diet can help control blood pressure.
