TOFANOL OINTMENT 10GM is used to manage moderate to severe atopic dermatitis (eczema) in adults and adolescents, and for alopecia areata and localised psoriatic lesions, by reducing inflammation and relieving itching and redness.

Uses of Tofanoid Ointment are:

• Atopic Dermatitis: Helps manage moderate to severe eczema symptoms.
• Alopecia Areata: Used in the management of patchy hair loss.
• Psoriatic Lesions: Used for localised psoriatic lesions.

Apply TOFANOL OINTMENT 10GM as suggested below:

• Clean and thoroughly dry the affected area of the skin before applying.

• Ensure your hands are clean before handling the ointment.

• Apply a thin layer of ointment to completely cover the affected area.

• Gently rub the medicine into the skin until it is absorbed.

• Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, and mucous membranes.

• Wash your hands thoroughly after application.

• Continue using the ointment for the full duration prescribed by your doctor.

TOFANOL OINTMENT 10GM is applied topically.

TOFANOL OINTMENT 10GM contains tofacitinib (2%), which works on the body as follows:

• JAK enzyme inhibition: Tofacitinib selectively blocks Janus kinase enzymes, particularly JAK1 and JAK3, which are involved in transmitting inflammatory signals within cells.

• Signal interruption: By inhibiting these enzymes, the medicine prevents the phosphorylation and activation of signal transducers and activators of transcription (STATs), which are proteins that trigger inflammatory responses.

• Inflammatory cascade reduction: This action decreases the production of pro-inflammatory mediators that cause skin inflammation, redness, swelling, and itching.

• Immune balance restoration: The medicine helps normalise immune function in affected skin areas, promoting healing of inflammatory lesions and improving skin appearance.

• Store TOFANOL OINTMENT 10GM at room temperature (below 30 degrees Celsius).

• Keep the tube in its original packaging, away from direct sunlight and moisture.

• Do not freeze the ointment.

• Ensure the medication is stored safely out of reach of children.

• Trigger avoidance: Identify and avoid personal eczema triggers such as certain fabrics (like wool), harsh soaps, and extreme temperature changes that may worsen skin inflammation.
