CompositionTenolol 50 Tablet is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), prevent chest pain (angina) and control certain irregular heart rhythms. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing atenolol 50mg, which belongs to a class of medicines called cardioselective beta blockers.
This medicine slows the heart rate and reduces the heart's workload. It is also used early after a heart attack to help protect the heart. Take it once a day at the same time, with or without food, and keep taking it even when you feel well. Your doctor may lower the dose if you have kidney problems.

Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly, as this can cause chest pain, a fast heartbeat or a heart attack; your doctor will reduce the dose gradually. Before starting, tell your doctor if you have asthma or other breathing problems, a slow heartbeat or heart block, uncontrolled heart failure, very low blood pressure, severe circulation problems, diabetes, liver or kidney disease, or thyroid problems, and about other medicines you take. It can hide the warning signs of low blood sugar. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Seek medical help for wheezing, a very slow heartbeat, fainting, worsening breathlessness or rapid weight gain. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
