CompositionSildoo 8 Capsule is used to relieve the urinary symptoms of an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia, BPH) in men. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing silodosin 8mg, which belongs to a class of medicines called selective alpha-1 blockers.
This medicine relaxes the smooth muscle of the prostate and bladder neck, improving urine flow and reducing the urge to pass urine often, especially at night. It does not shrink the prostate. Take one capsule a day with food, at the same time each day, as prescribed. If you have difficulty swallowing, ask your pharmacist about opening the capsule.
Reducing caffeine and alcohol in the evening, avoiding large drinks before bedtime and emptying your bladder fully before sleep can help reduce night-time trips to the toilet.
Before starting, tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney disease, low blood pressure or fainting episodes, and about other medicines you take, especially other blood pressure medicines and medicines for erectile dysfunction. If you are due to have cataract or glaucoma surgery, tell your eye surgeon that you take this medicine, as it can affect the pupil during surgery. It can cause dizziness, especially when starting, so rise slowly and do not drive if affected. Contact your doctor if you faint or feel very dizzy on standing. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
