CompositionRosuvas 40 Tablet 10 is used to lower very high cholesterol in adults at high risk of heart disease when lower doses have not been enough. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing rosuvastatin 40mg, the highest strength of this statin.
This strength is used only under close medical supervision, usually for severe or inherited high cholesterol that has not been controlled on 20mg. It lowers LDL (bad) cholesterol and triglycerides and helps slow the build-up of fatty deposits in the arteries. Take it at the same time, with or without food, as prescribed.
A heart-healthy diet low in saturated fat, regular activity, keeping a healthy weight and limiting alcohol work alongside this medicine to protect your heart.
Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding. The risk of muscle side effects is higher at this dose, and people of Asian origin can have higher levels of rosuvastatin in the blood, so doctors use this strength with particular caution. Before starting, tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease, an underactive thyroid, muscle problems, drink a lot of alcohol, or take other medicines such as ciclosporin, fibrates or HIV medicines. Your doctor will check your blood tests. Report unexplained muscle pain, tenderness or weakness, or dark urine, straight away. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
