Rifagut 200 Tablet is used to treat infectious diarrhoea and irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhoea (IBS-D). It is a single-ingredient antibiotic containing rifaximin, which acts mainly within the gut.
This medicine is also used to reduce the risk of hepatic encephalopathy (confusion caused by liver disease) in people with liver disease. Take it with or without food in the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor.
Drinking plenty of clean fluids, eating easily digestible food, and avoiding oily or very spicy meals can support gut recovery during treatment.
Before starting, tell your doctor if you have severe liver problems, and about all other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. Tell your doctor if you have high fever with bloody stools or if diarrhoea gets worse. Ask your doctor before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Follow the prescribed dose, frequency and duration, report persistent or serious side effects, and do not stop the medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
