Resodim 15 Tablet is used to treat low sodium levels in the blood (hyponatraemia). It is a single-ingredient vasopressin receptor antagonist containing tolvaptan.
It is used when low sodium is linked to conditions such as heart failure, liver cirrhosis or SIADH, where the body holds on to too much water, and it helps the kidneys remove excess water while keeping sodium. Treatment is started in hospital so that your sodium can be checked closely. Take it in the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor.
Do not restrict your fluids unless your doctor tells you to, and follow the fluid and diet advice given by your care team.
Before starting, tell your doctor if you have liver problems, and about all other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. Your sodium must rise slowly, so attend all blood tests as advised. Report confusion, marked thirst or unusual tiredness promptly. Follow the prescribed dose, frequency and duration, report persistent or serious side effects, and do not stop the medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
