Novastat CV 20 Capsule is used for reducing the risk of heart attacks, strokes, and vascular death in patients with established atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. This medication is a combination of a statin and an antiplatelet agent (Rosuvastatin and Clopidogrel) that works by decreasing blood levels of "bad" cholesterol (LDL, triglycerides, and ApoB) while inhibiting clot formation. It is also used to slow the progression of atherosclerosis, particularly in high-risk patients.

Here's how you should take Novastat CV 20 Capsule:

• Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew it.
• Try to take your capsule at the same time each day for maximum effectiveness.
• Continue taking this medicine even if your cholesterol levels improve unless advised otherwise by your doctor.

Novastat CV 20 Capsule is taken orally.

Novastat CV 20 Capsule contains two active ingredients:

• Rosuvastatin (20 mg): Classified as a statin, rosuvastatin functions by blocking an enzyme called HMG-CoA reductase in your liver that is instrumental in cholesterol production. By inhibiting this enzyme, rosuvastatin effectively reduces the liver's ability to produce cholesterol, particularly LDL "bad" cholesterol. It also raises HDL "good" cholesterol levels and lowers triglycerides to some extent.
• Clopidogrel (75 mg): As an antiplatelet medicine, clopidogrel works by inhibiting a specific receptor called P2Y12 on platelets. This action prevents the platelets from activating and sticking together, thereby reducing the formation of blood clots and maintaining blood flow through arteries.

Both clopidogrel and rosuvastatin work together to stabilise atherosclerotic plaques and prevent blockages in the arteries, thereby reducing the risk of heart attack and stroke.
