Mupiways Ointment 5Gm

Mupiways Ointment is used for the topical treatment of primary and secondary bacterial skin infections.

Uses of Mupiways Ointment are:

• Impetigo Treatment: Clears bacterial skin infections characterised by red sores, blisters, and yellow crusts.
• Infected Wounds and Cuts: Helps resolve bacterial contamination in minor cuts, scrapes, and surgical wounds.
• Folliculitis Management: Treats localised bacterial infections affecting hair follicles.

• Before applying the ointment, ensure the affected skin area is clean and dry.
• Apply a small amount of the ointment to the infected area using your fingertip or a clean cotton swab.
• The ointment should be applied two to three times daily or as directed by your doctor.
• You can cover the treated area with a sterile gauze dressing if deemed necessary.
• Remember to wash your hands before and after applying the ointment to prevent spreading of the infection.

Mupiways Ointment 5gm contains mupirocin (2%), which works on the body in the following ways:

• Isoleucyl-tRNA Synthetase Inhibition: Mupirocin works by reversibly binding to an enzyme present in bacteria called isoleucyl-tRNA synthetase. This enzyme plays a crucial role in bacterial protein synthesis.
• Halting Protein Synthesis: By binding to the isoleucyl-tRNA synthetase, mupirocin interferes with the incorporation of a specific amino acid called isoleucine into bacterial proteins, effectively stopping protein synthesis.
• Killing Susceptible Bacteria: Due to its unique action, mupirocin exhibits bactericidal activity against susceptible bacteria at the concentrations reached after topical application.

• Store Mupiways Ointment 5gm at room temperature, ideally between 15°C and 25°C
• Keep it safe from heat and direct light
• Keep the tube tightly shut when not in use to avoid exposure to air and moisture
• Always keep it out of reach of children for safety
• Remember to check the expiry date before applying; don't use if it's past this date
