Montaz Injection is used for serious bacterial infections when injectable antibiotic treatment is required.

Montaz 1 g Injection is administered intravenously or via an intramuscular route.

This medicine contains two active ingredients:

• Ceftriaxone (1000 mg): This component acts by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) located inside the bacterial cell wall. These PBPs are enzymes involved in assembling the bacterial cell wall and reshaping it during growth and division. When ceftriaxone binds to PBPs, it inhibits the linking of peptidoglycan chains that are essential for bacterial cell wall strength and rigidity. The weakening of the bacterial cell wall leads to cell lysis.

• Tazobactam (125 mg): Tazobactam works by inhibiting beta-lactamases secreted by certain bacteria which usually inactivate beta-lactam antibiotics like ceftriaxone. By combining tazobactam with ceftriaxone, it protects ceftriaxone from being broken down by these bacterial enzymes, hence extending the antibiotic spectrum of ceftriaxone to include many beta-lactamase-producing bacteria that have acquired resistance to ceftriaxone alone.

• Store Montaz 1 g Injection at a temperature below 30°C.
