Met XL Trio 50 Tablet is used to manage high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults, particularly when more than one medicine is needed. It is also used to help treat angina (chest pain) and to support recovery after a heart attack by reducing the strain on the heart.
It contains metoprolol (a beta-blocker), telmisartan (an angiotensin receptor blocker), and cilnidipine (a calcium channel blocker). It slow the heart rate, relax and widen the blood vessels, and improve blood flow, which lowers blood pressure and eases the heart's workload. Take it at the frequency your doctor advises, and do not stop it suddenly, as stopping a beta-blocker abruptly can worsen heart problems.
Healthy lifestyle changes support treatment alongside this medicine. These include reducing salt in your diet, staying active as advised, maintaining a healthy weight, and limiting alcohol.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor about any asthma or breathing problems, a slow heart rate, kidney problems, or other medicines you take, and whether you are pregnant or planning pregnancy. Stand up slowly to reduce dizziness, and tell your doctor about ankle swelling or a very slow heartbeat.
