Met XL Trio 50 Tablet is a combination medication used to manage high blood pressure in adults, particularly when multiple agents are needed for control. It is also used to treat angina (chest pain) and to assist the recovery process following a heart attack by reducing the strain on the heart muscle.

When taking Met XL Trio 50 Tablet, follow these instructions:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Do not crush, chew, or divide the tablet.

• It can be taken with or without food.

Met XL Trio 50 Tablet is taken orally.

Met XL Trio 50 Tablet has three active ingredients, each with distinct beneficial actions:

• Metoprolol Succinate (50 mg): This cardioselective beta-1 adrenergic receptor blocker reduces heart rate and heart muscle contractility, leading to a decrease in cardiac output. The extended-release formulation allows for a more stable and prolonged effect compared to immediate-release metoprolol tablets.

• Cilnidipine (10 mg): This dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker reduces the influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle cells. This results in a relaxation of these muscles (vasodilation), leading to a reduction in blood pressure. It also inhibits certain types of calcium channels in nerve terminals, suppressing the release of norepinephrine and providing sympathetic suppression.
