Megazolid 600 Tablet is an antibiotic medicine used to treat certain serious bacterial infections. It is commonly prescribed to treat hospital-acquired and community-acquired pneumonia, skin and soft tissue infections, and infections caused by susceptible bacteria, including some resistant strains.
It contains linezolid, which belongs to the oxazolidinone class of medicines. It works by preventing bacterial growth by blocking an essential step in the assembly of bacterial proteins, which halts bacterial multiplication.
This tablet can be taken with or without food, but it is best taken at a fixed time each day to maintain consistent drug concentrations in the blood. Ensure you complete the full course of treatment exactly as prescribed by your doctor, even if you begin to feel better within a few days.
Before starting therapy, inform your doctor if you have high blood pressure, a history of bone marrow suppression, or liver or kidney disease. Certain dietary modifications, such as avoiding high-tyramine foods like aged cheeses or cured meats, are recommended while on this medication to help prevent a sudden increase in blood pressure.
