Lactihep Syrup 450ml

Lactihep Syrup is used to treat chronic constipation and hepatic encephalopathy. It softens stools by increasing water content and lowers ammonia levels in liver disorders, improving bowel movement regularity and mental clarity.

Lactihep Syrup should be given to your child as follows:

• Ensure you shake the bottle well before use.

• Use the provided measuring cup or spoon to measure the correct dose of syrup.

• After using, remember to keep the bottle well-capped.

• Always use the syrup before its expiry date.

• Ensure the bottle is tightly closed when not in use.

• Note that this medicine is sugar-based and needs caution if your child has diabetes. Consult your doctor before giving this syrup if your child is diabetic.

Lactihep Syrup is given orally to your child.

Lactihep Syrup contains two active ingredients:

• Lactitol (10g): As an osmotic laxative, lactitol works by creating a hyperosmotic environment in your child's gut. This means it increases the concentration of sugars and salts in the intestinal lumen, causing an influx of water into the bowels through osmosis. The increased water content softens your child's stools and stimulates peristalsis, making it easier for them to pass stools. Lactitol remains undigested and unabsorbed as it passes through the body.

• Benzoic Acid (0.0225g): Benzoic acid acts as a preservative in this syrup formulation, preventing the growth of microbes that could potentially harm your child when consumed.

• Store Lactihep Syrup at room temperature.

• Keep it away from direct sunlight and moisture.

• Do not freeze.

• Keep this medicine out of reach of children.

• Encourage your child to drink plenty of water throughout the day. This helps maintain adequate hydration levels, supporting the syrup's effectiveness in managing constipation.

• Include fibre-rich foods such as fruits, vegetables, and whole grains in your child's diet. These foods help soften stools and promote regular bowel movements, complementing the action of Lactihep Syrup.
