Vildagliptin (50 Mg)

Jalra 50 Tablet is used to help control blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes, on its own or alongside other antidiabetic medicines.

It contains vildagliptin, a DPP-4 inhibitor that helps the body release more insulin after meals. Take it as prescribed, with or without food.

A balanced diet, regular activity, keeping to a healthy weight and routine blood sugar monitoring support better control alongside this medicine.

Tell your doctor about any kidney or liver problems before starting, and about other medicines you take. Report persistent stomach symptoms or signs of liver problems such as nausea, yellowing of skin or dark urine.

Jalra 50 Tablet is used to help control blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes, on its own or alongside other antidiabetic medicines.

Uses of Jalra 50 Tablet are:

Type 2 Diabetes: Helps control blood sugar by increasing insulin release after meals.
Complication Risk: Better control helps reduce the risk of diabetes-related complications.

Swallow Jalra 50 mg Tablet whole with a glass of water.
Do not crush or chew tablet, as this may affect the way the medication is absorbed in the body.
Take the medicine at fixed times each day to maintain a consistent level of medication.
Do not change your tablet dose or take them more often than prescribed.

Jalra 50 mg Tablet is taken orally.

Jalra 50 Tablet may cause some side effects that are usually mild and go away as your body adjusts to the medicine.

A few common side effects of Jalra 50 Tablet:

Neurological: Dizziness and headache. Rising slowly from sitting or lying down can help reduce dizziness.
Digestive: Constipation, feeling sick (nausea) and loose motions (diarrhoea). Taking small sips of water and eating plain, simple food can help ease nausea.

If side effects do not improve or become serious, speak to your doctor right away.

Management Of Side Effects:

Most of the side effects mentioned above resolve on discontinuation of the tablet and are temporary and, in most cases, do not require medical attention. If you experience severe or persistent side effects from this tablet, consult your doctor.

Jalra 50 mg Tablet contains the following component:

Vildagliptin (50 mg): It is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor. It helps the pancreas release more insulin and reduces the sugar the liver produces. This improves blood sugar control in people with type 2 diabetes.

Pregnancy

Jalra 50 mg Tablet is not recommended during pregnancy due to the risk of foetal harm. Do not take this tablet during pregnancy until prescribed by a doctor.

Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding women are not recommended to take Jalra 50 mg Tablet. It can pass into the nursing infant through breast milk. Before taking this tablet while breastfeeding, it is recommended to consult a doctor.

Alcohol

It is not recommended to consume alcohol while taking Jalra 50 mg Tablet. Alcohol can lower blood sugar and increase the side effects of this tablet.

Liver

Patients with liver disease are not advised to take Jalra 50 mg Tablet. It is best to consult your doctor before using this medication.

Kidney

Patients with mild kidney impairment can safely take this tablet. However, caution is advised in patients with moderate to severe kidney impairment while taking Jalra 50 mg Tablet. Dose adjustments may be required in such patients. If you have severe kidney disease, it's better to take your doctor's advice before taking this tablet.

Use In Driving And Operating Machinery

Jalra 50 mg Tablet may affect your ability to operate machinery or drive a vehicle. You may experience dizziness after taking this tablet. Avoiding any attentive task is recommended after taking this tablet.

Allergy

Allergic reactions to Jalra 50 mg Tablet are rare. But if you are allergic to vildagliptin, you should not take this tablet. To avoid allergic reactions, read the label and check the ingredients before taking this tablet.

Children

Jalra 50 mg Tablet is not intended for children less than 18 years of age.

Older Patients

Older patients with liver and kidney impairment should take Jalra 50 mg Tablet cautiously. They might also be taking other medications that can interact with this tablet. Inform your doctor and discuss your prescription medications before taking this medicine.

Drug-Drug Interactions

The hypoglycaemic effect of Jalra 50 mg Tablet can be reduced by medications, including:

Glucocorticoids such as dexamethasone and prednisolone. These medications may increase blood sugar levels.
Diuretics such as furosemide, when taken with Jalra 50 mg Tablet can affect blood sugar levels and may require adjustments in diabetes treatment.
Thyroid medications such as levothyroxine require dose alteration with the use of Jalra 50 mg Tablet.
Medicines affecting the nervous system, such as amitriptyline, require dose alteration with this medication.

Drug-Disease Interactions

Jalra 50 mg Tablet can interact with diseases, including:

Heart disease: There is an increased risk of heart failure with the use of this medication
Kidney disease: This tablet may further impair kidney function in patients with existing kidney diseases.
Liver disease: This tablet may further impair liver function in patients with existing liver diseases.

Daily Dose

It is recommended to take the dose of Jalra 50 mg Tablet as per doctor’s prescription.
