Glycomet-GP 1 Tablet is used to manage type 2 diabetes in adults when a single medicine is not enough. By keeping blood sugar in a healthy range, it helps reduce the long-term risk of complications affecting the heart, nerves and kidneys.
It contains metformin, a biguanide, and glimepiride, a sulphonylurea, two antidiabetic medicines that work in different ways to lower blood sugar.
Take it by mouth as prescribed, usually with food, and keep to regular meal times to avoid swings in blood sugar. Diet and activity remain an essential part of treatment.
Tell your doctor about any kidney problems or other medicines before starting. Learn the symptoms of low blood sugar and how to treat them, and report extreme tiredness, muscle pain or rapid breathing, which can rarely signal lactic acidosis.
