Istamet Xr Tablet 10

Istamet XR Tablet is used to manage type 2 diabetes by combining sitagliptin and metformin. It helps control blood sugar levels by increasing insulin release and improving insulin sensitivity. This combination is particularly useful when other antidiabetic medications do not provide adequate control.

This is how you should take Istamet XR Tablet:

• The tablet should be swallowed whole with a glass of water, preferably during a meal
• Do not crush or chew the tablet as it is designed to release medicine slowly in your body
• It's important not to exceed the recommended dose unless your doctor advises you to do so

Istamet XR Tablet is taken orally.

Istamet XR Tablet contains two active ingredients:

• Sitagliptin (100 mg): As a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor, sitagliptin increases the levels of certain substances in your body called incretins. These incretins help increase insulin synthesis and release from your pancreas when there is glucose in your blood. They also decrease glucagon secretion, which contributes to lowering blood sugar levels.
• Metformin (1000 mg): This component works by reducing glucose production in the liver. It also decreases the intestinal absorption of glucose and improves insulin sensitivity by increasing how much glucose is taken up and used by your body’s cells. As a result, metformin helps lower blood sugar levels without causing hypoglycemic episodes (dangerously low blood sugar).

The extended-release formulation of metformin allows for slower absorption of the medicine into your body and extends the duration of its action, providing a steady control of blood sugar levels throughout the day.

• Store Istamet XR Tablet at a temperature not exceeding 25°C.
• Keep it protected from light and moisture.
• Always store the medicine in a tightly closed container.
• Keep this medicine out of sight and reach of children.

• Regular physical activity: Since Istamet XR Tablet helps manage type 2 diabetes, regular exercise could assist in controlling your blood sugar levels. Try to incorporate at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity into your daily routine.
• Balanced diet: Consuming a well-balanced diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins can help manage blood glucose levels. Aim to limit foods high in sugar and unhealthy fats.
