Glura M Xr Forte Tablet 15 is used for the following:

• Improving blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus

• Providing additional glucose-lowering therapy where necessary

Here's how you should take Glura M Xr Forte Tablet 15:

• Swallow the tablet whole with water during your evening meal.

Glura M Xr Forte Tablet 15 contains two active ingredients:

• Metformin (1000 mg): As a member of the biguanide class of antidiabetic medicines, Metformin primarily works by reducing the production of glucose in your liver, decreasing intestinal glucose absorption, and improving insulin sensitivity in your body. By enhancing the action of insulin, Metformin helps your body utilise glucose more effectively, leading to a reduction in blood sugar levels.

• Sitagliptin (100 mg): Classified as a dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (DPP 4) inhibitor, Sitagliptin works by inhibiting an enzyme called DPP 4 which is responsible for breaking down certain hormones that regulate insulin secretion. By preventing the degradation of these hormones, Sitagliptin prolongs their activity resulting in increased insulin secretion and reduced glucagon secretion, ultimately lowering blood sugar levels.
