• Wash your hands with soap and water, then dry them with a towel.
• You can use an alcohol swab to clean your finger, but make sure it's completely dry before testing.
• Take a test strip from the box and insert it into the glucometer.
• Use a clean lancet to prick the side of your fingertip.
• Wait for a drop of blood to form. Wipe off the first drop, then apply a drop or two to the test strip.
