Glycomet GP 4 Forte Tablet 10 is used to manage type 2 diabetes in adults when diet, exercise and lower-strength treatment have not provided adequate blood sugar control. It is a combination medicine containing glimepiride and metformin, and belongs to the class of antidiabetic medicines.
This medicine combines glimepiride, which stimulates the pancreas to release more insulin, with metformin, which reduces glucose production in the liver and improves the body's response to insulin. Take this medicine with food, in the dose and duration prescribed by your doctor. Do not skip meals, as the higher glimepiride dose increases the risk of blood sugar falling too low without food.
Regular balanced meals, controlled carbohydrate intake, staying active and maintaining a healthy weight all help keep blood sugar under control alongside this medicine.
Tell your doctor about any kidney or liver problems, adrenal gland disorders, or alcohol use, and about any other medicines you are taking, before starting this medicine. Always carry a fast-acting glucose source and monitor your blood sugar regularly. Report any symptoms of low blood sugar to your doctor. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
