Dutasteride (0.5 Mg) + Tamsulosin (0.4 Mg)

Flomax-D Tablet is used to manage moderate to severe symptoms of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) in adult men. It is a combination medicine that belongs to the class of medications known as 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors and alpha-1 adrenergic blockers.

This medicine helps improve urinary flow and reduces symptoms such as frequent or urgent need to urinate, weak urine stream, difficulty starting urination, feeling of incomplete bladder emptying, and waking up at night to urinate. It also helps reduce the risk of acute urinary retention and the need for BPH-related surgery.

You should take this medicine as directed by your doctor. Inform your doctor about any pre-existing conditions or ongoing medications before beginning this medicine. Directions for Use of Flomax D Tablet 10

Follow these instructions while taking Flomax-D Tablet:

Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water.
Do not chew, crush, or open the tablet as this may irritate your mouth and throat.
Consult your doctor if you have any questions about using this medicine.

Flomax-D Tablet is taken orally.

Flomax-D Tablet may have the following common side effects:

Impotence: This refers to the inability to achieve or maintain an erection sufficient for sexual intercourse.
Decreased libido: You may experience reduced sexual desire or interest.
Ejaculation disorders: This includes problems with ejaculation such as reduced or no semen during orgasm.
Dizziness
Breast disorders: This includes tenderness, enlargement or swelling of breast tissue in men, also known as gynecomastia.
Orthostatic hypotension: This is a sudden drop in blood pressure when standing up, which can cause lightheadedness or fainting.

Managing the Side Effects:

Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless, which resolve on discontinuing the use of Flomax-D Tablet. However, if you experience any serious side effects or worsening of any of the symptoms, please consult your doctor.

Here are some general guidelines for managing common side effects:

Dizziness: Take Flomax-D Tablet at bedtime to reduce the impact of dizziness during your daily activities.
Orthostatic hypotension: Take this medicine approximately 30 minutes after the same meal each day to minimise sudden drops in blood pressure when standing up.

Flomax-D Tablet contains two active ingredients that work together to manage symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia:

Dutasteride (0.5 mg): This component inhibits the enzyme 5α-reductase, which normally converts testosterone to Dihydrotestosterone (DHT). By reducing DHT levels in the body, dutasteride helps shrink the enlarged prostate over time.
Tamsulosin (0.4 mg): This works as an alpha-1 adrenergic blocker that selectively relaxes the smooth muscles in the prostate gland and bladder neck. This relaxation allows urine to flow more easily through the urethra, improving urinary symptoms.

Pregnancy

Flomax-D Tablet is generally prescribed for adult males and therefore this precaution for pregnancy is not applicable.

Breastfeeding

Flomax-D Tablet is generally prescribed for adult males and therefore this precaution for breastfeeding is not applicable.

Alcohol

Caution is advised while taking Flomax-D Tablet if you consume alcohol. Drinking alcohol while on this medicine may increase your risk of dizziness and low blood pressure. It is best to limit or avoid alcohol during your treatment period.

Liver

Caution is advised while taking Flomax-D Tablet if you have mild to moderate liver impairment. This medicine is warned against use if you have severe liver problems. Kidney

Caution is advised while taking Flomax-D Tablet if you have kidney problems.
